This handbook is designed to serve as a general guide to the rights and obligations of employees who have experienced work-related injuries or diseases, as well as the rights and obligations of their employers, under the Illinois Workers' Compensation and Workers' Occupational Diseases Acts.

It is not intended to explain all the benefits or conditions pertaining to specific cases. In each case, benefits are determined by applying the law to the facts of each case, such as the nature of the injury or exposure, and how and when it occurred.
